Isaac Bear Early College High School presents a student from the underclass with a "Golden Bear" award each week. This award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership, achievement, and/or initiative. Recipients of this award have demonstrated any or all of the aforementioned qualities and have been exemplary members of our Learning community.

Her insightful comments push discussions further, benefiting both her peers and the learning environment. Even when absent, she ensures all her work is completed, showing dedication and responsibility. Beyond the classroom, she’s a leader, involved in various clubs, and has impressively taken the initiative to start and lead Mock Trial this year, making her a true asset to our school community. During the June NHCS board meeting, several IBEC students were recognized for their outstanding research projects throughout this year.

Valeria Valdiri and Aynsley Tryon also won 3rd in Group Exhibit and will serve as alternates for nationals if either of the 1st and 2nd place winners in that category can't attend.
CONGRATULATIONS to Isabel Garcia who represented Isaac Bear at the 2025 NC Science and Engineering Fair, where she was selected as a 2025 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) Finalist. Isabel represented our school and the entire state of North Carolina at the science fair in Colombus, Ohio on May 11-16.
